Risk 2015 Governorship Election- OOUITES Speaks or reduce our fees

The students of the Olabisi Onabanjo University,OOU, which was shut down last month have warned Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, that he might lose the 2015 governorship election in the state if he doesn’t listen to them and rescind his decision on their increased school fees

The student president in a press conference held yesterday in Lagos, said the increased in school fees will make thousands of students drop out, as most of them will be unable to pay the new fess. How logical is this, he asked. Continue below…
He also demanded for the re-opening of the institution amongst others. His words;

“We are ever resolute to pursue this cause no matter what it takes, because the issue is very simple.

“If you are talking about reduction and you run to the media without having a conclusive or mutual agreement and the most annoying thing is you are saying the implementation will take effect next session, our own argument is logical and simple.

“Over 2000 students cannot pay and have applied for leave of absence for the 2012/2013 session, and many couldn’t return. If you now announce a reduction and you say it will take effect next session, what of this academic session of 2013/2014?

“Do they go out of school because they can’t pay and return next session? Is it logical? It’s not logical. Implementation and further reduction of the fees is non-negotiable”.

“Let me also address the rumour that we are being motivated by politicians.

“We all remember the Ali-must-go protest in the 70s, we heard the students accused of being sponsored by the opposition.

“During the LASU struggle, they said the 5th columnist and some politicians motivated it, but at the end of the day, the success of the struggle showed that it was a student motivated struggle.

“It is always like that in this part of the world, when we have a highly irresponsible government who always look for excuse to justify their irresponsibility and that’s why they are saying the struggle of Olabisi Onabanjo University is a politically motivated one. It is not and it will never be,” Mr. Ifade stated.

“They said it’s only 1 out of 9 tertiary institutions that is complaining.

“But it is only that one that is in 2013/2014 academic session; it is only one that pays the highest tuition fees in the entire Nigeria; it is only that one that is still standing and it will continue to stand.”

Education is a right of the students and not a privilege, he said. He also urged the public and media to support the students and disregard government’s propaganda against the students.

5. Salif Keita Let me just begin by saying Salif Keita is an
incredible talent, his music is unbelievable even
though I don’t understand 80% of it most time
I try to Google out the lyrics and translate.
Proud citizen of Mali, Salif keita was born
August 25 1949. Very humble with his wealth, he is a direct descendant of the creator of the
Mali empire “Sundiata Keita”. Which kind of
meant he should never have been allowed to
become a singer. But when you hear the
“Golden voice of Africa” sing you just have to
be thankful he became a singer. He owns a private island in France.

4. Koffi Olomide Antoinne Cristophe Agbepa also known as

Nigerian act till date. D’banj counts his millions in the dollars. Earning upwards of 100,000 USD
per show.

2. P Square This twins are like walking money, can you
“taste the money?” Pun intended. They both
live in square villa, estimated to be worth well
over 3 million dollars…. Inside lagos ooo. They
have deals with Akon’s Konvict music and
Universal. Earning well over 150,000 USD per show they are the second richest on our list.

1. Youssou N’Dour Born October 1st 1959, Youssou N’Dour is a
Senegalese singer, composer, business man &
politician. Recently appointed as the Tourism
and Culture minister by the new prime minister
Abdoul Mbaye, Youssou has remarkable
investments in real estate, owns radio and TV stations. The Senegalese will describe him as
“perhaps the most famous singer alive”..
Unfortunately he is not so famous around this
parts (Correct me if I’m wrong). Safe to say most of his wealth did’t come from
actual music yes? But still he’s our number 1. Do you Agree with this List? Drop your Comment

JOAN RIVERS popular comedian Died @ 81

Joan Alexandra Rosenberg[2] (née Molinsky; June 8, 1933 – September 4, 2014), known by her stage name Joan Rivers, was an American actress, comedian, writer, producer, and television host, best known for her stand-up comedy, for co-hosting the E! celebrity fashion show Fashion Police, and for starring in the reality series Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best? alongside her daughter Melissa Rivers.

Rivers first came to prominence in 1965 as a guest on The Tonight Show, a pioneering late-night program with interviews and comedy, hosted by Johnny Carson, whom she acknowledges as her mentor. The show established her particular comic style, poking fun at celebrities, but also at herself, often joking about her extensive plastic surgery. When she launched a rival program, The Late Show, he never spoke to her again. She went on to host a successful daytime slot, The Joan Rivers Show, which won her a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Talk Show Host. Her satirical style of humor, however, by focusing on the personal lives of celebrities and public figures, was sometimes criticized. She also authored 12 best-selling memoir and humor books, and provided comic material for stage and television.

On September 4, 2014, Rivers died following serious complications—including cardiac arrest—during a procedure on her vocal cords at a clinic on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.
 PERSONER LIFE
Rivers was a member of the Reform synagogue Temple Emanu-El in New York and stated publicly that she "love[d] Israel".[52]

Rivers' first marriage was in 1955 to James Sanger,[53] the son of a Bond Clothing Stores merchandise manager. The marriage lasted six months[54] and was annulled on the basis that Sanger did not want children and had not informed Rivers before the wedding.[55] Her second marriage was on July 15, 1965,[56] to Edgar Rosenberg, who committed suicide in 1987. Their only child, Melissa Warburg Rosenberg (now known as Melissa Rivers), was born on January 20, 1968. Joan had one grandson, Melissa's son Cooper (born Edgar Cooper Endicott in 2000),[57] who was featured with his mother and grandmother in the WE tv series Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best?[58]

In her book, Bouncing Back (1997), Rivers described how she developed bulimia nervosa and contemplated suicide. Eventually, she recovered with counseling and the support of her family.

In 2002, Rivers told the Montreal Mirror that she was a Republican.[59] However, on a 2013 episode of Celebrity Wife Swap, Rivers stated that she was a Democrat. Then, on January 28, 2014, during a conversation with Reza Farahan, she announced that she was in fact a Republican.[60]

In a June 5, 2012, interview with Howard Stern, Rivers said she had several extramarital affairs when married to Rosenberg. According to Rivers, she had a one-night sexual encounter with actor Robert Mitchum in the 1960s after an appearance together on The Tonight Show. She also had an extended affair with actor Gabriel Dell during the out-of-town and Broadway productions of her play, Fun City, in 1971, for which Rivers told Stern she "left Edgar over" for several weeks.[61]

Rivers was open about her multiple cosmetic surgeries and was a patient of plastic surgeon Steven Hoefflin, beginning in 1983. Her first procedure, an eye lift, was performed in 1965 as an attempt to further her career.[62]

    Death
On August 28, 2014, Rivers experienced serious complications and stopped breathing during a procedure on her vocal cords, at a clinic in Yorkville, Manhattan.[63][64] She was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital and was put into a medically induced coma after reportedly suffering cardiac arrest.[63]

On August 29, her daughter, Melissa, publicly stated that Joan was "resting comfortably" in the hospital.[65] On August 30, it was reported that Rivers had been put on life support.[66] Reports initially stated that Rivers' family might face ending her life support if her condition did not improve.[67] However, on September 1, 2014, an unnamed source told Entertainment Tonight that Rivers' physicians at Mount Sinai Hospital had started the process of trying to bring her out of the coma on August 31.[68] Prior to that, there had been no further medical updates beyond her daughter's statement.[69]

On September 3, Melissa Rivers issued a brief statement that Rivers had been moved from Mount Sinai Hospital's intensive care unit into a private room, without any comment concerning Rivers's condition or prognosis.[70] The following day, September 4, 2014, Melissa announced via another statement that Rivers had died at the age of 81 at 1:17 p.m

   EDUCATIONAL BACkGROUND
Rivers was born Joan Alexandra Molinsky in Brooklyn, New York in 1933,[3] the younger daughter of Russian Jewish immigrants Beatrice (n̩e Grushman; January 6, 1906 РOctober 1975) and Meyer C. Molinsky (December 7, 1900 РJanuary 1985). Her elder sister, Mrs. Barbara Waxler, died on June 3, 2013, aged 82.[4][1][5] She was raised in Brooklyn, and her family later moved to Larchmont, Westchester County, New York. She attended Connecticut College between 1950 and 1952, and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Barnard College in 1954 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature[6] and anthropology. Before entering show business, Rivers worked at various jobs such as a tour guide at Rockefeller Center,[7] a writer/proofreader at an advertising agency[7] and a fashion consultant at Bond Clothing Stores.[8] During this period, agent Tony Rivers advised her to change her name, so she chose Joan Rivers as her stage name
  CAREER AND AWARDs
950s–1960s
During the late 1950s, Rivers appeared in a short-run play, Driftwood, playing a lesbian with a crush on a character played by a then-unknown Barbra Streisand. The play ran for six weeks.[10] Rivers performed in numerous comedy clubs in the Greenwich Village area of New York City in the early 1960s, including The Bitter End and The Gaslight Cafe,[11] before making her first appearances as a guest on the TV program The Tonight Show originating from New York, hosted at the time by Jack Paar.[12]

By 1965, Rivers had a stint on Candid Camera as a gag writer and participant; she was "the bait" to lure people into ridiculous situations for the show. She also made her first appearance on The Tonight Show with new host Johnny Carson, on February 17, 1965.[13] During the same decade, Rivers made other appearances on The Tonight Show as well as The Ed Sullivan Show, while hosting the first of several talk shows. She wrote material for the puppet Topo Gigio. She had a brief role in The Swimmer (1968), starring Burt Lancaster. A year later, she had a short-lived syndicated daytime talk show, That Show with Joan Rivers; Johnny Carson was her first guest.[14] In the middle of the 1960s, she released at least two comedy albums, The Next to Last Joan Rivers Album[15] and Rivers Presents Mr. Phyllis & Other Funny Stories.[16]

1970s
By the 1970s, Rivers was appearing on various television comedy and variety shows, including The Carol Burnett Show and a semi-regular stint on Hollywood Squares. From 1972-76, she narrated The Adventures of Letterman, an animated segment for The Electric Company. In 1973, Rivers wrote the TV movie The Girl Most Likely to..., a black comedy starring Stockard Channing. In 1978, Rivers wrote and directed the film Rabbit Test, starring her friend Billy Crystal. During the same decade, she was the opening act for singers Helen Reddy, Robert Goulet, Mac Davis and Sergio Franchi on the Las Vegas Strip.[citation needed]

1980s–1990s
Rivers spoke of her primary Tonight Show life as having been "Johnny Carson's daughter," a reference to his longtime mentoring of her and, during the 1980s, establishing her as his regular guest host by August 1983. She also hosted an episode of Saturday Night Live, on April 9, 1983.[17] In the same period, she released a best-selling comedy album on Geffen Records, What Becomes a Semi-Legend Most? The album reached No. 22 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Comedy Album.[18]

During the 1980s she continued doing stand-up shows along with appearing on various television shows. In February 1983, she became the first female comedian to ever perform at Carnegie Hall.[19] Later that year, she did stand-up on the United Kingdom's TV show An Audience With Joan Rivers.
       Rivers in 1967
In 1984, Rivers published a best-selling humor book, The Life and Hard Times of Heidi Abramowitz, a mock memoir of her brassy, loose comedy character. A television special based on the character, a mock tribute called Joan Rivers and Friends Salute Heidi Abramowitz, was not successful with the public.
The decade was controversial for Rivers. She sued female impersonator Frank Marino for $5,000,000 in 1986, after discovering he was using her real stand-up material in the impersonation of her that he included in his popular Las Vegas act. The two comics reconciled and even appeared together on television in later years.
Also in 1986 came the move that cost Rivers her longtime friendship with Carson, who had first hired her as a Tonight Show writer. The soon-to-launch Fox Television Network announced that it was giving her a late night talk show, The Late Show Starring Joan Rivers, making Rivers the first woman to have her own talk show on a major network.
The new network planned to broadcast the show 11:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. Eastern Time, making her a Carson competitor. Carson learned of the show from Fox and not from Rivers herself. In the documentary Johnny Carson: King of Late Night, Rivers said she only called Carson to discuss the matter after learning he may have already heard about it and that he immediately hung up on her. In the same interview, she said that she later came to believe that maybe she should have asked for his blessing before taking the job. Rivers was banned from appearing on the Tonight Show, a decision respected by Carson's first two successors Jay Leno and Conan O'Brien. After the release of his 2013 biography on Johnny Carson, Carson's manager Harry Bushkin revealed that he never received a call from Rivers' husband Edgar concerning the move to Fox, contrary to what Edgar had told Rivers.[24] Rivers did not appear on the Tonight Show again until February 17, 2014, when she made a brief appearance on new host Jimmy Fallon's first episode.[25] On March 27, 2014, Rivers returned for an interview.
Shortly after Carson's death in 2005, Rivers said that he never spoke to her again. In 2008, during an interview with Dr. Pamela Connolly on television's Shrink Rap, Rivers claimed she did call Carson, but he hung up on her at once and repeated the gesture when she called again.
The Late Show Starring Joan Rivers turned out to be flecked by tragedy. When Rivers challenged Fox executives, who wanted to fire her husband Edgar Rosenberg as the show's producer, the network fired them both. On May 15, 1987, three months later, Rosenberg committed suicide in Philadelphia; Rivers blamed the tragedy on his "humiliation" by Fox.[26] Fox attempted to continue the show with a new name (The Late Show) and rotating guest hosts. A year after the Late Show debacle, Rivers was a guest on TV's Pee-wee's Playhouse Christmas Special. By 1989, she tried another daytime TV talk show, The Joan Rivers Show,[27] which ran for five years and won her an Daytime Emmy in 1990 for Outstanding Talk Show Host.[28] In 1994, Rivers and daughter Melissa first hosted the E! Entertainment Television pre-awards show for the Golden Globe Awards.[29] Beginning in 1995, they hosted the annual E! Entertainment Television pre-awards show for the Academy Awards.[29] Beginning in 1997, Rivers hosted her own radio show on WOR in New York City. Rivers also appeared as one of the center square occupants on the 1986–89 version of The Hollywood Squares, hosted by John Davidson.
In 1994, Rivers—who was influenced by the "dirty comedy" of Lenny Bruce—co-wrote and starred in a play about Bruce's mother Sally Marr, who was also a stand-up comic and influenced her son's development as a comic. After 27 previews, "Sally Marr...and Her Escorts," a play "suggested by the life of Sally Marr" ran on Broadway for 50 performances in May and June 1994.[30] Rivers was nominated for a Drama Desk Award as Outstanding Actress in a Play and a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play for playing Sally Marr.[31]
               2000s–2010s
By 2003, Rivers had left her E! red-carpet show for a three-year contract (valued at $6–8 million) to cover award shows' red carpet events for the TV Guide Channel.[32]
Rivers poses for a photograph at The Pierre hotel in New York City, May 24, 2001
Rivers appeared in three episodes of the TV show Nip/Tuck during its second, third and seventh season, playing herself.[33][34][35] Rivers appeared regularly on television's The Shopping Channel (in Canada) and QVC (in both the United States and the UK), promoting her own line of jewelry under brand name "The Joan Rivers Collection". She was also a guest speaker at the opening of the American Operating Room Nurses' 2000 San Francisco Conference. Both Joan and Melissa Rivers were frequent guests on Howard Stern's radio show, and Joan Rivers often appeared as a guest on UK panel show 8 Out of 10 Cats.
On August 16, 2007, Rivers began a two-week workshop of her new play, with the working title "The Joan Rivers Theatre Project", at The Magic Theatre in San Francisco.[36] On December 3, 2007, Rivers performed in the Royal Variety Show 2007 at the Liverpool Empire Theatre, England, with Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip present.[citation needed]
In January 2008, Rivers became one of 20 hijackers to take control of the Big Brother house in the UK for one day in spin-off TV show Big Brother: Celebrity Hijack. On June 24, 2008, Rivers appeared on NBC-TV’s show Celebrity Family Feud and competed with her daughter against Ice-T and Coco.

Rivers and daughter Melissa were contestants in 2009 on the second Celebrity Apprentice. Throughout the season, each celebrity raised money for a charity of his or her choice; Rivers selected God's Love We Deliver.[citation needed] After a falling out with poker player Annie Duke, following Melissa's on-air firing (elimination) by Donald Trump, Rivers left the green room telling Clint Black and Jesse James that she would not be in the next morning. Rivers later returned to the show and on May 3, 2009, she became a finalist in the series. The other finalist was Duke.[37][38] On the season finale, which aired live on May 10, Rivers was announced the winner and hired to be the 2009 Celebrity Apprentice.

Rivers was featured on the show Z Rock as herself; she was also a special "pink-carpet" presenter for the 2009 broadcast of the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras parade. She was also roasted in a Comedy Central special, taped on July 26, 2009, and aired on August 9, 2009. From August 2009, Rivers began starring in the new reality TV series How'd You Get So Rich? on TV Land. A documentary film about Rivers, Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work, premiered at the San Francisco International Film Festival at the Castro Theatre on May 6, 2010.
In 2011, Rivers appeared in a commercial for Go Daddy, which debuted during the broadcast of Super Bowl XLV.[39] She made two appearances on Live at the Apollo, once as a comedian and once as a guest host.
Rivers performing at a London Udderbelly event in May 2009
Joan and her daughter premiered the new show Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best? on WE tv. The series follows Joan moving to California to be closer to her family. She moves in with daughter Melissa while searching for a home of her own. WE tv then ordered a new season consisting of 10 episodes, which premiered in January 2012. In 2011, Rivers was featured as herself in Season 2 of Louis C.K.'s self-titled show Louie, where she performed on-stage. Beginning September 10, 2010, Rivers co-hosted the E! show Fashion Police, along with Giuliana Rancic, Kelly Osbourne, and George Kotsiopoulos commenting on the dos and don'ts of celebrity fashion. The show started as a half-hour program but expanded to one hour on March 9, 2012. On August 7, 2012, Rivers showed up in Burbank, California to protest that the warehouse club Costco would not sell her New York Times best-selling book, I Hate Everyone ... Starting with Me. She handcuffed herself to a person's shopping cart and shouted through a megaphone. The police were called to the scene and she left without incident; no arrests were made.[40] On March 5, 2013, she launched a new online talk show on YouTube, called In Bed with Joan, in which each week she had a different celebrity guest who "came out of the closet", and they talked about various topics. The show took place in Rivers' bedroom, in Melissa's home in Malibu, California.[citation needed]
On August 26, 2014, Rivers hosted a taping of Fashion Police with Kelly Osbourne, Giuliana Rancic, and George Kotsiopoulos about the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards and the 2014 MTV Movie Awards which would be her last television appearance before her death.
The day before her throat surgery, Joan released her most recent podcast of In Bed with Joan, with LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian.
  Style of humor
During her 55-year career as a comedian, her tough-talking style of satirical humor was both praised and criticized as being truthful, yet too personal, too gossipy, and very often abrasive. Nonetheless, with her ability to “tell it like it is,” she became a pioneer of contemporary stand-up comedy. Commenting about her style, she told biographer Gerald Nachman, “Maybe I started it. We're a very gossipy culture. All we want to know now is private lives.”
However, her style of humor, which often relied on making jokes about her own life and satirizing the lives of celebrities and public figures, was sometimes criticized as insensitive. Her jokes about Elizabeth Taylor and Adele's weight, for instance, were often commented on, although Rivers would never apologize for her humor. Rivers, who was Jewish, was also criticized for making jokes about the Holocaust and later explained, "This is the way I remind people about the Holocaust. I do it through humor", adding, "my husband lost his entire family in the Holocaust." Her joke about the victims of the Ariel Castro kidnappings, similarly came under criticism, but she again refused to apologize, stating, "I know what those girls went through. It was a little stupid joke."
Rivers accepted such criticism as part of her using social satire as a form of humor: "I've learned to have absolutely no regrets about any jokes I've ever done ... You can tune me out, you can click me off, it's OK. I am not going to bow to political correctness. But you do have to learn, if you want to be a satirist, you can't be part of the party.
Rivers states that seeing Lenny Bruce perform at a local club while she was in college influenced her developing style
He was an epiphany. Lenny told the truth. It was a total affirmation for me that I was on the right track long before anyone said it to me. He supplied the revelation that personal truth can be the foundation of comedy, that outrageousness can be cleansing and healthy. It went off inside me like an enormous flash.
Comedian Bill Cosby, who was credited with first suggesting to Johnny Carson that he make her a co-host, called her “an intelligent girl without being a weirdo . . . a human being, not a kook.” Others, including Time magazine, once compared her humor to Woody Allen's style, of “how to be neurotic about practically everything,” while noting that “her style and femininity make her something special.” Rivers likewise compared herself to Allen, stating: “He was a writer, which I basically was . . . and talking about things that affected our generation that nobody else talked about.
Her style of comedy was also compared to Johnny Carson's, as being in many ways starkly contrasting, and one of the reasons he made her co-host. Critic Michael Pollan compared their style:
Where Carson is scrupulously polite, Rivers is bitchy; where he is low-key, she is overheated; where he is Midwest, Waspy and proper, she is urban, ethnic and gossipy. Carson conducts interviews as if he were at the country club; Rivers does hers at the kitchen table.
In her personal life, however, fewer of those neurotic or intense character traits which viewers see on screen, are displayed. Ralph Schoenstein, who dated her and worked with her on her humor books, states, “She has no airs. She doesn't stand on ceremony. The woman has absolutely no pretense. She'll tell you everything immediately. Joan isn't cool—she's completely open. It's all grist. It's her old thing--'Can we talk?'”[43]:623

According to biographer Victoria Price, Rivers' humor was notable for taking aim at and overturning what had been considered acceptable female behavior. By her bravura, she broke through long-standing taboos in humor, which paved the way for other women, including Roseanne Barr, Ellen DeGeneres, and Rosie O'Donnell.[51]

BREAKING NEWS ,Fashola Reduce LASU Fees to N25,000

.It was jubilations galore at the 19th convocation ceremony of the Lagos State University (LASU) as Governor Babatunde Fashola and visitor to the institution announced the reduction of the school fees to the old rate of N25,000.

Governor Fashola made the announcement at the second day of LASU convocation ceremony for the award of higher degrees which triggered jubilations among students and staff who chanting songs in praise of the governor.

The convocation however was nearly marred by protesting members the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Non Academic Staff Union (NASU) and the Students Union over their unpaid  salaries for June and July, arrest of about ten SSANU members during the protest as well as injury sustained by a student when police shot teargas at the protesting unions.

Fashola told the gathering that he has liaised with the State Executive Council on LASU school fees and has approved the reversal to the old fees of N25,000. Recalled that on June 11, 2014, the governor had announced the reduction of the fees by 34 t0 60 per cent which was rejected by the students and even the staff unions.

There were spontaneous jubilations by the students led by their President, Nurudeen Yusuf while SSANU and NASU members later joined in the celebration as they showered praises on Governor Fashola for listening to their agitation for further reduction in the school fees.

As soon as the announcement was made, the students union President, Yusuf rushed out from the convocation hall and was mobbed by his colleagues who carried him high for leading them to victory.

When the governor came out from the New Auditorium, venue of the convocation, the students and staff began another round of jubilations as they stood in front his convoy dancing and celebrating the reversal of the school fees.

History Of Late Josiah Olunowo Ositelu (Founder of Church of the Lord Aladura)

BRIEF HISTORY OF LATE JOSIAH OLUNOWO OSITELU

Prophet General Dr. Josiah Olunowo Ositelu (1900-66) of blessed memory was the Founder and First Primate of “The Church of the Lord (Aladura) Worldwide”.
Like the word of the Lord concerning Jeremiah that before he was born the Lord God has appointed him to the nation of Israel, the same can be said of our great Leader and Founder of The Church of the Lord (Aladura) Worldwide, Late Dr. Josiah Olunowo Ositelu. No wonder, it was predicted at his birth that he would be a strong, wise, wonderful counsellor and head of his people.
He was born to the family of Ashaye Onakoya Ositelu of Lisa Chieftaincy House in Ogere and Ejironike who was a daughter of one Adeyemi of Owo royal family, on 15th May 1900 at Ogere.
The late founder of the Church started to manifest the great calling on his life at a very tender age. He was soon found to predicting and telling people about their future. He had a very sound educational career, even though his father refused to send him to school initially. He first attended Church Missionary Society (CMS) School in Ogere and later Christ Church School, Porogun, Ijebu-Ode. After the completion of his primary education in 1919, he became a pupil teacher and later became the School Master (1921-23).
The foundation of his priesthood career was laid when he was trained as a qualified Catechist. He worked as a catechist at Erunbe and Erukute in Ogun Sate under the late Rev. D. M. George. Late Dr. J. O. Ositelu was much beloved by the Minister-In-Charge of the district, the elders of the Church as well as many other people who had dealings with him.

He received his calling on the night of 19th May 1925. On that very day, while on hi bed, he saw a GREAT LIGHT flashed unto him and in the light he saw a LARGE EYE, reflecting as a great orbit of the sun. He was so frightened and quickly jumped out of the room in panic and ran to the elders of the Anglican Communion, just like Prophet Samuel of the old. He later learnt that the incident indicate a CALL TO SERVICE. From that time, like the Biblical Moses, late Dr. J. O. Ositelu began to hear voices and God spoke to him directly. He began to see visions and receive revelations concerning men and matters, which volumes of books cannot contain. On the 18th August 1925, he heard a voice saying, “as Elijah and Elisha have been anointed, so thou has been anointed and appointed from above.”

On the 18th September 1925, it was revealed to him that “gradually the seals of power will come to you and your goodtime draws on space.” Likewise on the 5th of November of the same year, he heard a voice saying, “I will give a rule of worship like unto Moses and I will bless you like Job.” These divine revelations were a drawing force that propelled him to do the will of God, even the Anglican Council as predicted could not stop him in fulfilling the will of God in his life.

He started fasting and praying for about a year and was in the process of preparation as inspired by the Holy Spirit to go back to Erukute where he remained till 9th June 1929 when he started to minister unto people and spreading the Gospel of God to all people of all races.

On the 29th August 1928, God revealed unto him that Zion and the Salvation will be “The Church of the Lord” in the time of the next. A valedictory service was held for him at Erukute on the 2nd June 1929. He conducted his first Open Air Revival on the 9th June 1929.
At all the Open Air Revival meetings, he expatiated on the gospel of joy by warning his audience to obey God’s Commandments and that “the ark of safety is right here and for the people to board it quickly and thus avoids regrets as in the days of Noah.” He also predicted what will happen to idols and that idolaters would perish and all shrines would go to oblivion.

The fame of these Open-Air services spread all over the Western Region of Nigeria especially in the districts of Lagos, Ibadan, Ijebu and Remo. Many well known and less known people from all nooks and crannies of the country came to Ogere-Remo to witness the work of God and all of them worshiped God and witnessed the marvellous manifestation of God’s spiritual work through His Servant Late Dr. Josiah Olunowo Ositelu. As a result, The Church of the Lord (Aladura) Worldwide, which started on the 29th August 1928 in spirit, was formally inaugurated on the 27th July 1930 at 10.00 a.m. in the LISA COMPOUND in Ogere.
Since the inauguration of The Church of the Lord (Aladura) Worldwide, late Dr. J. O. Ositelu inaugurated, dedicated and laid foundation stones of many branches of the Church in many part of the world between 1930 and 1965. These include foundation laying ceremonies and inauguration of many branches in Sierra-Leone, Liberia, Ghana and Nigeria as well.

The Church of the Lord (Aladura) Worldwide was not to be confined to Nigeria alone. Other parts of Africa and the world in general were to benefit from the mission assigned to Ositelu, the founder of the Church.

In fulfilment of the revelation given to the late Prophet General J. O. Ositelu on the 10th October 1925 that, “the Church will spread beyond the sea,” he sent his top aides – the duo of late Apostle Emmanuel Adeleke Adejobi (2nd Primate of the Church) and late Apostle Samuel Omolaja Oduwole (2nd Apostle of the Church), in the year 1947 to Sierra-Leone and Liberia respectively. The first branch of the Church in Freetown, Sierra-Leone was thus inaugurated on the 6th April 1947, while the first branch of the Church in Monrovia, Liberia was thus inaugurated on the 20th April 1947.
Prophet General Ositelu preached the gospel of repentance and regeneration from town to town. His first converts were his parents and cousins, and right from the beginning, he started training Christians (males and females) for active ministry.

In 1937, he established through divine revelation the HOLY MOUNT TABIEORAR (pronounced Taborah) RETREAT, which is since then being celebrated every year on the 22nd August and attracts millions of believers.

In spite of opposition from other Christian churches and resistance from African Traditional Religion (ATR), The Church of the Lord (Aladura) Worldwide grew steadily. Today, The Church of the Lord (Aladura) Worldwide has spread over many parts of the world, including Benin Republic, Togo, Ghana, Ivory-Cost, Liberia, Sierra-Leone, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain, Belgium, Luxemburg, Australia and the United States of America.

The Church of the Lord (Aladura) Worldwide introduced a good deal of African culture and many African customs – singing, drumming, clapping and dancing – into its liturgy and church life. This has now become a common phenomenon among many churches of diverse background on the African continent. The Church of the Lord (Aladura) Worldwide is of the opinion that these customs and traditions of the African, or of any other peoples of the world, are to serve as beautiful compliments to the Christian faith and belief, and are not diametrically opposed to it. The Church of the Lord (Aladura) Worldwide subjects itself to the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

The Church of the Lord (Aladura) Worldwide is conscious of her mission to spread the good news of our Lord Jesus Christ to every nooks and corner of the world. The cross of Christ Jesus is our Guide.

The Church of the Lord (Aladura) is a revealed Covenant church from above. The solid foundation of the Church is laid on LOVE, FAITH and HOPE. Every adherent of the Church is enjoined to abide and practice these virtues.

The four tenets of the tenets of the church as supplemented and explained by the incumbent Primate – The Most Reverend Dr. Rufus Ositelu - can be described as:

·                                 PENTECOSTAL IN POWER;

·                                 BIBLICAL IN PATTERN;

·                                 EVANGELICAL, PROPHETIC and SOCIAL IN MINISTRY;

·                                 ECUMENICAL IN OUTLOOK:

·    Biblical in pattern in the sense that in all matters of Faith, Conduct, Doctrine, Rituals, Character and Discussions, our Supreme Court of Appeal is the Holy Bible. Thus the Holy Bible is our Spiritual Constitution.

·    Pentecostal in power in the sense that the Spirit of our Lord Jesus Christ is the Administrator of the Church through which the Church is guided, directed, filled, influenced, administered and managed.

·    Evangelical in the sense that we carry the Gospel to the nooks and corners of the world, and we preach the good news to all irrespective of background, race or gender.

Prophetic in the sense that God endowed the Founder of the Church and promised to endow all that will follow him with prophetic virtue for the benefit of mankind.

Social in the sense that the Church believes it should be a blessing to the community where the Church is situated.

•        Ecumenical in outlook in the sense that we embrace and encourage brotherly and sisterly love among the believers, and we do not forsake the saints, for the prayer of the High Priest - our Lord Jesus Christ – for the church is, “That they may one” (John 17:21). The Church accepts all who believe and proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, as brothers and sisters.

The major concerns of the Church in the 21st Century are to train more efficient Church workers, and to expand its social contributions to the society at large. The Church’s Seminary – Aladura Theological Institute (ATI) – has now been affiliated with the Lagos State University (LASU), offers diploma, graduate and post-graduate degree courses in Theology and Christian Education.

The Founder and first Primate of The Church of the Lord (Aladura) Worldwide, late Dr. J. O. Ositelu, while conducting his last Tabieorar Festival on 22nd August 1965, remarked that, “the heavenly hosts were weeping”. Thereafter, there were also instances where in visions he saw angels in white robes surrounding him saying, “the time has come”, and replied, “if you are ready, I am ready.” And it became obvious to Prophet J. O. Ositelu that he would soon answer the call of the Lord to higher glory. Some days before his death, he ordered that a Thanksgiving Offering be made signifying his gratitude to God for a life well spent. He later changed mortality for immortality on the 12th day of July 1966...

The Church Of the Lord Aladura- Oke TABORAH Festival 2014

.The Yoruba word "Aladura" means "Prayer Fellowship" or "The Praying People". The members of the Aladura churches believe in the the power of praying and fasting (Yoruba is a major language of the south-western region of Nigeria). The founder of the Church of the Lord (Aladura), the late prophet Dr Josiah Olunowo Oshitelu, received his calling in 1925 and the independent church was officially established in 1930, in Ogere. Prophet Oshitelu preached the gospel of repentance and regeneration from town to town. Right from the beginning he started training Christians for active ministry. In 1937 he established through divine revelation the Holy Mount Tabieorar (pronounced Taborah) Festival, which since then is celebrated every year on 22 August and attracts thousands of believers. Despite opposition from other Christian churches and resistance from traditional African religions, the church grew steadily. In 1947, after spiritual inquiry, Prophet Oshitelu sent two apostles to Sierra Leone and Liberia respectively to bring the good news to the west coast of Africa. Today the church is spread over the whole of West Africa, in Nigeria, Benin, Togo, Ghana, Liberia and Sierra Leone. The church also has parishes in Europe and the United States of America. Many politicians and public servants are today members of the church.

The Church of the Lord (Aladura) is one of the first three Pentecostal churches in Nigeria, which have brought considerable revival among African Christians. It has introduced a good deal of African culture and many African customs - singing, drumming, clapping and dancing - into its liturgy and church life. This is now becoming a common phenomenon among many churches on the African continent. The church is of the opinion that these customs and traditions of the Africans, or of any other peoples of the world, are to serve as beautiful complements to the Christian faith and belief, and are not opposed to it. The church subjects itself to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is engaged in evangelical ministry and has an ecumenical outlook - it accepts all who believe and proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, as brothers and sisters. The church is also biblical in pattern and Pentecostal in power. Its major concerns in the 21st century are to train more efficient church workers, and to expand its social contributions to the society at large. The church's seminary - Aladura Theological Institute - has now been affiliated with the Lagos State University (LASU), and offers graduate and post-graduate degree courses in theology and Christian education.

Administratively and spiritually, the Church of the Lord (Aladura) as a worldwide organization has its headquarters in Ogere Remo, Ogun State, Nigeria. The primate is head of the Church of the Lord (Aladura) Worldwide

OMOWESCO ART NATION: @80 Prof. Wole Soyinka Speech on Cultism

OMOWESCO ART NATION: @80 Prof. Wole Soyinka Speech on Cultism

@80 Prof. Wole Soyinka Speech on Cultism

To understand what we are experiencing in Nigeria today, we must understand the difference between confraternity/fraternity and cultism; and what is leading young people to join the former groups.  We observe that the almighty created fraternity with our family system.

Confraternity or brotherhood exists in all walks of life, mortal and religious lives.  In religious orders, confraternity exists as in confraternity of penitents – Oremus Pro Invicem, in Catholic dogma, we have the Knight of Columbus, a sort of confraternity of some religious order, and in mortal world – the university campuses all over the world, we have, for example: Pyrate confraternity formed fifty years ago in a Nigerian University, and in Yale University, The secrete of the Tomb: Skull & Bones.  To all intents and purposes, Nigerian military has metamorphosized into confraternity and some may even say into cultism because of the crimes it committed against Nigerian citizens and the looting spree it invented.  Such formation of brotherhood was not initially formed to commit crimes but to understand and help create disciplined men capable of moving a nation forward.

Cultism, on the other hand, is an unorthodox or spurious deviation from the tenets of confraternity, make no mistakes about it.  Cults are formed, at least in Nigeria, for the sole purpose of destroying, pillaging and usurping violent powers inherent in the new found cults for political intimidation and extra judicial killings.

In the fifties, sixties, seventies, and even in the eighties, confraternities thrived on the university campuses in Nigeria.  Some of the confraternities ended up making positive contributions on the lives of their nations.  One of such fraternities is the Skull & Bones or whatever the name is at Yale University in the United States of America.  Many of their members are ex-Presidents, ex-senators, current and ex-members of the House of Assembly and judges of the most powerful nation in the world.

Another fraternity which people fail to recognize as such is the military.  Because of their Espirit de corp, the speak no evil, hear no evil cult, most of the financial and human right crimes committed by the military men in Nigeria may never be solved.  The military enabled criminality more than any one group in our civil society.  Because the military are so cohesive and speak in unison, they easily pillage, loot, can destroy Nigeria and we seem not to be able to do anything about their actions because we’ve all been intimidated and forced to recoil into our shells.  On their watch, corruption became systemic and endemic.  They negatively impacted our daily lives most of the time.  Yet, many military men past or present were, during their times of service and after their retirement, are still good men and patriotic Nigerians.  Some of them, potent, however, are thugs and rogues who would have been armed robbers even if they were not in uniform.

Fraternities attract people of all shades and colors and people with different mission just as politics does even though the definition on what politics is to accomplish is well set in stone.  Fraternities could be where angelic acts are established or they may be where the devil recruit, take your pick.  In and by themselves, fraternities are not bad if their intents are positively harnessed.

In the video, Professor Wole Soyinka gave us the definition of the fraternity he formed over fifty years ago.  The members of his original group were young and idealistic men.  Their fraternity was formed to counter colonialism which still exists in Nigeria of today but under a different aegis.  In America and Europe, for example, there are different fraternities.  In America, some of them are police, fire fighter, rifle association and religious fraternities such as the Knight of Columbus that perform good deeds.  What Adedibu is doing in Oyo is equivalent to cultism not fraternity.  At best, Chief Obasanjo enabled Adedibu and President Musa Yar ‘Adua tolerates him because, maybe, he does not want to offend OBJ, his godfather.

In the fifties, sixties and seventies, fraternities existed at the Federal School of Science, Onikan as in our universities in Nigeria.  Some of these fraternity members or “what you ma call them” were very brilliant, socially relevant, dynamic in outlook and were productive members of the science school and the university communities.  The worst that we thought of the members of the pyrates, at least at the Federal school of science, was that they drank a lot and were very sociable bunch not cults or killers and indeed, no one can give record of killing, maiming, or threats to lives and properties.  But then, drinking was a fad among many teenagers of their time.  Yet, they were best of the bunch academically.  I believe what lured people then to confraternities or fraternity was the academic seriousness and brotherhood these young men exhibited among themselves.

Unfortunately, what is luring students to cultism these days is the hopelessness and joblessness in the nation, and more importantly, the need to be relevant since looting and extra judicial killing have become a way of gaining recognition and of making money, the same money that hard work could have earned cult members.  Moreover, the employers of these cult members are the very people that looted the nation and still want to be relevant even after their time is up.  The difference between the then fraternities and the now cultism is joblessness effectively created by the very sources that are using the members to do their dastardly and cowardly acts of maiming, looting and outright political thuggery.

An idle mind is said to be friends of the devil.  Whenever young, impressionable and energetic young men and even women have more time in their hands, they can be dangerous to themselves and to the nation.  We have all been concentrating on making the almighty Naira (Dollar conversions) to the detriment of our children’s lives.  Rather, we must understand the mind set of these cult members, parents must be alert to the activities of their children and know who friends of their children are.  Our responsibility to rid the nation of cultism begins at home.

We have blamed Professor Wole Soyinka long enough.  It is time to direct the blames where they belong.  Why is cultism thriving in our society?  If we know the reasons we can begin to solve the real problem.  The jobs that our politicians and hence milito-democractic system created are jobs for hired, vicious and those whose minds have been altered by drugs in our society.  How we resolve our present political impasse and joblessness will determine if we can eliminate cultism and if we want our nation develop?  Otherwise, we may just accept cultism and killings as the new albatross on the nation’s neck, one that is more vicious than corruption.

What I was expecting Professor Wole Soyinka to state in his conclusion was that since these so call big men are using these kids to cause mayhem and chaos, we the citizens are challenging government to identify the supporters and users of cult members, take them to court and rid these menace to our society.  Do not blame Wole Soyinka for starting his fraternities.  Blaming him is equivalent to blaming the gods for establishing religions dogma and hanging them if their members strayed away from the philosophy of the founders.  But then, if Professor Wole Soyinka’s exposition on cultism was just be to draw a distinction between the fraternity he formed and today’s cultism, he succinctly succeeded. Thank you, Wole Soyinka for finally visiting this nagging national issue.  We may have, at last, received our Nunc dimittis servum tuum, Domine, secundum verbum tuum in pace; Quia viderunt oculi mei salutare tuum (Now thou you’ve dismiss your servant, O Lord, according to your word in peace; Because our eyes have seen thy salvation).
